A Physiotherapist can then complete further study and training to be recognised as an Australian Physiotherapy Association (APA) Titled Women’s, Men’s & Pelvic Health Physiotherapist or a Specialist Women’s, Men’s & Pelvic Health Physiotherapist.
Post Graduate Qualifications in Pelvic Health
A Physiotherapist with post graduate qualifications in pelvic health has completed a Bachelor Degree in Physiotherapy, then returned to university to complete a Post Graduate Certificate (Continence & Pelvic Floor Rehabilitation). This certificate comprises 2 subjects of a Masters degree. In Australia, post graduate qualifications in pelvic health can only be completed at The University of Melbourne, Victoria or Curtin University in Western Australia. At WMHP we only employ Physiotherapists with this qualification as a minimum.
APA Titled Women’s, Men’s & Pelvic Health Physiotherapist
An APA Titled Women’s, Men’s & Pelvic Health Physiotherapist is a Physiotherapist with significant skills and experience in pelvic health. They will have completed either a clinical Masters degree in pelvic health, or have undertaken an examination process to be deemed an expert in the field of pelvic health.
Specialist Women’s, Men’s & Pelvic Health Physiotherapist
A Specialist Women’s, Men’s & Pelvic Health Physiotherapist has completed a 2 year intensive training and examination program, and has been admitted as a fellow to the Australian College of Physiotherapists. As of 2020, there are only 12 Specialist Women’s, Men’s & Pelvic Health Physiotherapists in Australia, and our Director Shan Morrison gained this achievement in 2011.
